Miraculous Provision

by S.S.

I experienced the greatest blessing of God while I was going through financial crises during the COVID-19 lockdown. I could see God’s hand and His protection in our family.

In March we had no money and just enough food for two more days. My wife and I prayed, meditating on the word of God. We went through a story from 1 King 17, about how God provided for Elijah even in the midst of a famine. This story increased our faith, and as a family we decided not to borrow from anybody even if we had to go without food.

The same day that our groceries ran out, I heard someone knock on our door. What a surprise! It was one of the believers carrying rice, wheat, lentils, cooking oil, and some vegetables!

I asked him, “Why have you brought these things?”

He replied, “Please don’t take it wrong. I felt strongly in my heart that God is telling me to give you something. Please accept it as a love gift.”

This miraculous provision of God brought tears of joy to see how God takes care of his people when we trust Him.

God Can Wipe the Tears from Your Eyes

During the lockdown, I went to visit our believers in a nearby village. While there I met an older couple who were desperate because their son had been doing migrant labor in another state and he lost his job when the lockdown happened. Since all public transport was canceled, their son was stranded without any money to buy food. Both father and mother were crying.

I talked with them, trying to offer counsel from the Bible. But they did not understand much because they are Hindus. Then I began to tell a story about the plan of God and His love towards people who fear God. Through this story, I told them about God’s love and how he can solve all our problems whenever we pray to Him.

Both wife and husband believed the word of God, and together we prayed, asking God to rescue the young man from that situation. Thank God within a few days they got the news that their son got another job and now he has money to buy food. That was the instant miracle this family experienced.

Seeing the miracles that God does, they’ve begun attending our house church in their village. They are growing in faith and plan to take water baptism when their son returns.

Trusting God by the Brook

Surprisingly the COVID-19 disaster and lockdown turned into something positive for me. Now I’m glad God gave me this opportunity to spend quality time in his presence. While I was reading through the Bible, the Lord spoke to me through the story of Elijah. I began to understand more than ever that God is always available in every circumstance of human life. We simply need to understand his will and what he wants from us.

During the time that Elijah was in hiding at the brook Karith, he had to depend entirely on God to fulfill his will in Elijah’s life. This was when Elijah got the power to perform miracles, even to raising the dead. This story encouraged me to spend more time in God’s presence to be able to accomplish more after the lockdown is over.

I am constantly encouraging my storytelling coworkers to spend quality time with God by fasting and prayer, by studying the word of God, learning more Bible stories, and making strategies for growing the ministry to which God has appointed us.

If I were to grade our spiritual level in these days compared to previous years and days, we are far better and ahead in the spiritual life. We have great hope that God will use us to harvest even more souls in these coming days.
