SERVING IN: South Africa, Africa
Dirk and Elizabeth began missionary work in 1985. In 1987, Dirk founded Arise & Shine Evangelistic Association (ASEA) in the Philippines. ASEA Philippines continues to be an active and growing mission. In 1993, ASEA expanded to London, England. An old pub was purchased, renovated and renamed, “The London Outreach Center.” This building provides a base of operation for ASEA ministries, with the primary goal being evangelistic outreach to the greater London area. In 2002, the Wood Family launched out to establish an ASEA base in Cape Town, South Africa. Great things are happening in evangelism, Bible training and church planting. ASEA has a goal to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ around the world! Several other missionary families are part of this ASEA vision as well.
We were blessed with a generous donation to help us distribute groceries to these areas that we visit twice a week. We continue to hold our church meeting and work with those recovering from substance abuse. More than ever, we are compelled to, “Go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”
New Year’s Day in Muizenberg is one of our favorite days of the year because everyone comes to spend the day at the beach and the bigger the crowd, the more people I can tell about the Good News of Jesus Christ!
Here in Cape Town, Level 5 lockdown began March 27. We were only allowed to leave our home for essential goods, medicine or medical care.
It’s good to be back out preaching the Gospel anywhere and everywhere we can find people to listen and it’s not hard to find people here.
