- Aug 1 In September I became a missionary through Globe International. I feel called to the unreached peoples of the world & am part of Globe's Unreached People Group Initiative. My current prayer requests are for financial stability, courage, & direction.
Michelle (Shelly) grew up in Belleville, Illinois. As a young child she saw many missionaries go through her Methodist church and dreamed of someday becoming one. In 2012 she moved to Pensacola, Florida to pursue a degree in anthropology. God had different plans and eventually brought her to Globe. After taking the Perspectives On The World Christian Movement course in the spring of 2017 she fell in love with the organization.
Shelly is currently an intern with Globe raising support to be sent out. She is passionate about abolishing slavery and human trafficking across the world. She has partnered with the A21 Campaign to help in this endeavor, as well as working with her church’s missions committee for support of world-wide ministry. Shelly credits her missionary spirit to her late grandparents Ralph and Berniece Heinz, who spent their whole lives giving and working with missions organizations like Wycliffe Bible Translators.
As a Globe International intern Shelly works with projects to save and deliver those affected by slavery. The task is very large, and the need is almost overwhelming. Human trafficking is a $150 billion dollar industry with millions of victims being effected yearly. Less than 1% of the victims of human trafficking are ever recovered. God has a special place in his heart for slaves, and he calls us as a church to rescue his sons and daughters!
